The Walked Dog
Beyond the constraining leash and collar
it is so much more than a tugging canine compound
of muscle, bone, fur and crazily wagging tail.
The sole sovereign of its universe of scents,
it is life always ready to rocket forward fast.
Remorseless
There is a brutal beauty in the sleek tiger
atop the still steaming carcass that feeds it.
But something only foul and irredeemable
in the politician slandering chair-bound prey.
These pols have no shame, but they should.
