The Poet Without Her Poems

Like a tree without its leaves.

Still recognizable.

Arguably stronger.

Less vulnerable.

The outline clearly seen.

But much is missing.

Signifying color.

Growing shapes and

their light and shade

to complicate the outline.

The tree is always

Only as alive as

Its next green buds.
